We want to explore non-verbal theatre using puppetry, clowning, music, and physical performance that is valuable to those audiences who have cognitive impairments and other sensory challenges, encouraging an inclusive experience for all audiences to stay active and engage in our performances to support wellbeing.

 

We want to explore creating experiences using just soundtrack and image to find moments of connection, to support person-centred care and train care workers to use puppetry and performance as a long-term intervention to connect with residents.

 

We want to create a model of engagement that is adaptable in many different healthcare settings. We have recently been funded by Dementia United, recent organizations include Beacon Dementia and Well-being, Age UK Salford, and the Northern Care Alliance. Venues include Salford Royal Hospital, community settings, care homes, hospices, and schools.

 

REACH will bring together researchers, healthcare professionals, and artists.
